European Oak | American Oak
The versatility king of fine hardwoods. European Oak is a temperate hardwood found across most of Europe and American Oak is also a temperate hardwood mostly found in the East of North America. Both kinds of wood are white oaks and live for several hundred years, taking many to grow to a height appropriate for hard flooring purposes.
European Oak is known for its versatile and consistently even colour and tone, while American Oak has more variations in light and dark shades. These natural variations make for obvious real-wood flooring, which is both luxurious and long-lasting. With different processes, like fuming, we can create darker, richer tones more akin to walnut – especially in European Oak.
The grain pattern of American Oak has a straighter and more subtle grain pattern to its European counterpart, which boasts wavy lines and scatterings of marks. Either create a beautifully natural addition to your home’s asthetic.
